On the promenade in Sea Point a bench in the form of a bed has been set as a place of contemplation, rest and just of passing by…here are observations, captured as an on-going project since 2017.

creatures that leave us in awe
The most famous of the Lipizzaners are the ones from the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, Austria. I am so thankful for the ladies and sponsors that are taking care of the Lipizzaners in Kyalami in South Africa. What an inspiring bunch of people… and the stars of the show - the Lipizzaners themselves. In 1944 Count Jankovich-Besan fled Hungary and arrived in Durban in 1948 with his stud. Today 30plus stallions reside at the SA Lipizzaner Centre in Kyalami, what an experience and privilege to see them perform. The stallions moved down to Cape Town as of starting this site. Included are a few images from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna - sadly, but understandably, no photographs allowed in the Hofburg arena.

The grace and beauty of animals in the wild are unsurpassed. The sun glinting off an Oryx’s pair of spear-tipped horns, or the snort of an Impala ram as it warns its herd of ewes and offspring of imminent danger are constant reminders of our obligation to take care of nature for our children, and their children, and their children….
Ancient shadows
Of ancient days, they have seen it all. Khoisan that sat in their shade, to sheep that take shelter against the sweltering sun. Some of them have passed along, but to this day, some provide nourishment when the veld has gone.
Those that can touch our souls
